Tajikistan's GDP shows growth in 1Q2018

Gross domestic product (GDP) of Tajikistan exceeded 12.3 billion somoni (approx. $1.4 billion) in the 1Q2018, Tajik media reported on April 19.

According to the statistics agency under the president of Tajikistan, the GDP volume increased by 7 percent compared to the 1Q2017. The trade and the industry prevailed in the GDP in 1Q2018 (21.9 percent and 18.5 percent respectively).

Share of the transportation, communications and storage sphere accounted for 14.2 percent of the GDP, the taxes – for 13.5 percent.

The share of agriculture, which usually dominates the GDP structure at the year-end, is only 5.1 percent, due to the agricultural year being in its very beginning.

Tajikistan’s GDP exceeded 61 billion somoni (approx. $7 billion) in 2017.

The country’s government expects the real growth of the GDP to be 7 percent, the same as in 2017.
