The value of iron ore extraction of Kazakhstan’s mining companies in the first quarter of 2018 amounted to 63.2 billion tenge - 0.8 percent more than in the same period of 2017, Energy Prom reported.
The largest volume of production accounts for Kostanay (87.1 percent of the total share of Kazakhstan, 55.1 billion tenge), Karaganda (10.4 percent of the total volume of Kazakhstan, 6.6 billion tenge) and Akmola regions (1.6 percent of the total volume of Kazakhstan, 1 billion tenge).
The largest producer of all three regions is ArcelorMittal Temirtau, represented by a subsidiary Orken LLP, which unites mining enterprises of the iron ore sector of the company.
In-kind extraction of iron ores for the year (I quarter of 2017 - I quarter of 2018) jumped by 4.8 percent, to 9.8 million tons. Extraction of iron ore concentrate amounted to 2.7 million tons, increasing by 11.4 percent compared to the previous year.
