Uzbekistan to supply over $5M worth of ambulances to Afghanistan

Uzbekistan started supplying a large batch of 121 ambulance cars worth $5.7 million to Afghanistan, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan stated on April 30.

Uzsanoatexport JSC together with the Uz-Af Trading Company Uzbek-Afghan trade house handed over the first batch of 12 Isuzu ambulances for the needs of the Ministry of Healthcare of Afghanistan.

“The cars of this brand are produced by the Samarkand Automobile Factory. The contract for the supply was signed in December 2017. All cars are planned to be delivered during 2018,” the press service said.

In January 2018, Uzbekistan provided 25 Isuzu buses and three New Holland tractors to Afghanistan free of charge.

As a result of 2017, the volume of trade between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan increased by 15 percent and amounted to about $600 million. In January 2018, the turnover in year-to-year terms increased by almost 30 percent.

In line with the order of the Uzbek president, the Roadmap for development of cooperation was adopted in early 2017. Implementation of the roadmap will allow to significantly increase the turnover in the future years and increase the trade turnover volume to $1.5 billion.

Opening of an Uzbek trade house in Kabul with a permanent exhibition of “Made in Uzbekistan” goods was an important practical step in expanding bilateral cooperation.

In September 2017, an UzTrade showroom was opened in Mazar-i-Sharif, which exhibited a wide range of products of Uzbek products. UzTrade’s contracts with Afghan partners amount to over $29 million.
