Central Bank of Azerbaijan increases investments in securities

As of Jan. 1, 2018, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) increased investing in securities by 10.7 percent, to 16.3 billion manats , according to the bank’s financial report audited by PwC multinational accounting firm.

Bulk of the funds (10.06 billion manats) were invested in investment securities, while the remaining funds ($ 6.25 billion) - in trading securities.

In late 2017, the structure of the portfolio of investment securities was as following: bonds of the non-bank credit institution Aqrarkredit - 9.48 billion manats (a fall by 5.2 percent), bonds of the Azerbaijan Mortgage and Credit Guarantee Fund - 528.15 million manats ( an increase of 56.7 percent), bonds of the Finance Ministry - 52.96 million manat (a decrease of 24.6 percent).

The major part of the trading investment securities accounted for agency notes - 3.26 billion manats (an increase of 52 percent), followed by the notes of international financial institutions - 835.8 million manats (an increase of 3.76 times), corporate bonds - 774.36 million manats (an increase of 33.5 percent), state bonds - 705.19 million manats (an increase of 62.5 percent), US treasury notes - 415.64 million manats (a fall by 7.7 percent), municipal bonds - 205.26 million manats (a fall by 39.38 percent), treasury notes of Great Britain - 57.09 million manats ( an increase of 28.6 percent).
