Uzbekistan's economy growing, over 10,000 new enterprises in 1Q18

The number of enterprises and organizations operating in Uzbekistan has increased by 10,900 (3.8 percent) since beginning of 2018, what shows improvement of business activity in the economy, the press service of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan stated in a review of monetary policy in the 1Q2018.

According to the review, the macroeconomic situation in the 1Q2018 was formed in conditions of increasing business and investment activity, as well as growth of production in the real sector of the economy. Formation of positive trends in the economy was promoted by preservation of macroeconomic stability and continued implementation of state development and transformation programs.

“The dynamics of the main macroeconomic indicators show that the current monetary conditions do not have a deterrent effect on economic development in general,” the review read.

In the 1Q2018, the GDP grew by 5.1 percent on a year-to-year basis, with the volume of total investment in the economy increasing by 29.4 percent and industrial production – by 11.8 percent.

Foreign trade turnover of the republic totaled $7.9 billion with a $249.4-million surplus, which helped maintaining external balance of the economy and stability of the exchange rate.
