Azerbaijan’s investment company talks on state’s role in IPO
Baku, Azerbaijan, May 4
By Ilkin Shafiyev - Trend:
The Azerbaijani government’s provision of high incomes for investors participating in the initial public offering (IPO) will help to contribute to the development of the stock market in Azerbaijan, Abid Mammadov, director of Azerbaijan’s AzFinance Investment Company, told Trend.
“AzFinance Investment Company is in talks with several companies to conduct an IPO,” Mammadov stressed. “This is a complex process, and it requires certain expenditures. A company planning to enter the IPO should be confident that it will be able to raise funds. Since we haven’t yet acted as an underwriter for an IPO, it isn’t so simple to provide the corresponding guarantees. Therefore, we need state support in order to ensure maximum profitability for investors.”
IPO is the very first sale of stock issued by a company to the public.
