Deposit base of Azerbaijani banks slightly fall

The volume of deposits of legal entities and individuals in Azerbaijani banks totaled 20.3 billion manats as of March 2018, which is 1.3 percent less than in March 2017, according to a report of the country’s Central Bank.

The deposit base has been decreasing since early 2018. If in January, its volume amounted to 20.86 billion manats, then in February it was reduced to 20.69 billion manats.

The deposit base decreased by 4.5 percent compared to March 2017.

As of early April 2018, deposits in national currency amounted to 6.06 billion manats (29.8 percent of all deposits), and freely convertible currency – 14.27 billion manats (70.2 percent).

Deposits of individuals amounted to 7.66 billion manats (an increase of 10.8 percent per year) in the period, the majority of which are deposits in foreign currency – 64.1 percent or 4.9 billion manats.

Total volume of deposits of legal entities in Azerbaijani banks amounted to 12.67 billion manats.

As of March 2018, the volume of deposits of financial organizations of Azerbaijan amounted to 1.67 billion manats as compared to 5.14 billion manats in the same period of 2017. Deposits of non-financial organizations totaled 11 billion manats as compared to 9.24 billion manats in March 2017.
