Uzbekistan will soon begin to manufacture agricultural machinery under its own recognizable brand, the decree of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reads.
According to the decree, ‘Uzagrogtexsanoatholding’ jointly with the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Finance and the State Committee for Investments were ordered to prepare the Concept for development of domestic agricultural machinery by mid-August.
The aforementioned agencies should prepare and submit a Localization Program for each type of agricultural machinery with a specific list of investment projects for creation of new and modernization, technical and technological re-equipment of agricultural engineering enterprises until 2020. The agencies should also develop a program on reducing the cost of agricultural machinery and its components. Special attention should be paid to attracting funds from international financial institutions.
The president also approved a new procedure for equipment purchase. Formation of the orders portfolio for the supply of agricultural machinery will be carried out mainly during regional fairs held twice a year in February-March and September-October with participation of domestic and leading world producers.
Park of agricultural machinery of the country has 146,000 units, while over 172,000 units are actually required. Current provision of farms with high-performance tractors is 75 percent, with combine harvesters – 86 percent, cotton harvesters – 28 percent, cotton seeders – 60 percent, and grain sowers – 25 percent.
Some 82,000 units of various agricultural machinery and equipment are required taking into account lacking and outdated equipment. The country is planning to supply 16,000 units of equipment to farmers in 2018, including 5,800 units in the 1H2018.
