Turkmenistan and Switzerland study possibility of business partnership

The Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET) held a meeting with Vice President of the Joint Chamber of Commerce "Switzerland-CIS" Yuri Moraru, the Union said in a statement.

There was an exchange of views on the possibilities of partnership. Agricultural sector, mechanical engineering, chemical industry, electronics, leather production, and also interaction in the field of innovative technologies were noted as perspective directions of such partnership. Holding business events and consultations with the Swiss business community on issues of work in foreign markets are in the focus of the activities of that Swiss company.

Noting the stability of the Turkmen economy and the attractiveness of the investment climate created in the country, Moraru noted the prospects of cooperation between the business circles of the two countries, the creation of a joint business council, the message says.

The fuel and energy complex, transport and communications, high-tech sectors of industry, investment, and tourism were identified as promising areas of partnership.

Turkmenistan is interested in partnership with Switzerland in such spheres as mechanical engineering, chemical, processing and food industry, pharmaceutical and biochemical production.

The visit of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Switzerland in October 2012 gave impetus to the relations between the two countries, following which a solid package of documents was signed.
