US EXIM Bank to finance supply of American high-tech equipment to Uzbekistan

The National Bank of Uzbekistan and the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM Bank) signed a $100-million memorandum of understanding, the press service of the Uzbek bank stated.

According to the statement, the memorandum was signed on May 16, 2018 in Washington during the official visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the United States.

The memorandum provides for the resumption of cooperation with the US EXIM Bank on trade finance, as well as providing medium-term and long-term loans to finance export of goods and services from the United States to Uzbekistan.

The signing of the memorandum will allow financing projects of both large state-owned companies and small and private businesses in Uzbekistan, providing for supply of high-tech equipment from the United States.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived with the first official visit to the United States on May 15 at the invitation of President Donald Trump.

The US Administration called the visit of the president of Uzbekistan “historical”.

Mirziyoyev will meet with the Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, the US Secretary of Defense James Mattis, congressmen and senators, the president of the World Bank to discuss development of cooperation.
