UNDP to help agricultural enterprises of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan

Representatives of enterprises producing and exporting agricultural products in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan signed a number of agreements and memorandums on cooperation within the framework of the international business forum “Advantages of the Ferghana Valley” held in Bishkek on May 11-13, the press service of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) stated.

Entrepreneurs, representatives of state structures, responsible for implementation of regional export strategy participated at the event, organized by the UNDP with the aim of achieving sustainable regional cooperation.

Representatives of large trade networks of the EAEU countries, the EU, Mongolia and China, interested in cooperation with producers of agricultural products of the Ferghana Valley, also took part in the forum.

The forum is aimed at ensuring sustainability of regional cooperation, improving direct contacts between potential purchasers and producers, and promoting creation of new jobs.

Participants of the forum discussed cooperation in consolidation of the agricultural potential of the region for joint export to the foreign countries.

By the end of the forum, numerous recommendations and proposals were developed to improve the export potential of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

The event was organized within the framework of the UNDP regional project “Wider Europe: Trade Facilitation for Central Asia” in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, in conjunction with the Association of Fruit and Vegetable Enterprises of Kyrgyzstan, the Austrian international organization Hilfswerk Austria International, the Ministry of Economy and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kyrgyzstan.
