Uzbekistan region to use Chinese, Vietnamese solutions for fish processing

Andijan Silk Co. LLC Uzbek-Chinese joint venture will deal with processing of silkworm cocoons and production of finished products, the press service of the president of Uzbekistan said.
The facility’s opening ceremony took place on May 19, when Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev pressed a symbolic button, launching production.
The head of the republic got acquainted with the work done at the enterprise.
Earlier, in accordance with the March 29, 2017 presidential decree, the Uzbekipaksanoat association was formed. The association is currently working to accelerate development of the industry, introduction of innovative technologies, new methods for fattening caterpillars of silkworm, improving the quality and volume of cocoon harvesting by studying experience of other countries.
The joint venture has installed spinning and sewing equipment of Chinese production worth $2.1 million. Some 150 people got employed. The number of employees is planned to be increased to 300 until the end of 2018.
The facility will be able to process 300 tons of cocoons per year with the launch at full capacity. Export of $5.1-million finished goods is planned for 2018.
