Turkey’s Ministry voices construction costs for country’s longest tunnel

Some 183 million Turkish liras will be spent on the construction of the longest road tunnel in the Turkish province of Izmir, the Ministry of Transport, Shipping and Communications of Turkey told Trend May 22.

Some 183 million Turkish liras will be spent on the construction of the longest road tunnel in the Turkish province of Izmir, the Ministry of Transport, Shipping and Communications of Turkey told Trend May 22.

The ministry noted that, the total length of the new tunnel will be 2.5 kilometers.

"Currently, the work on drilling the 80-meter section of the tunnel has been completed," the ministry stated.

The ministry also noted that, the works on the tunnel are carried out at a depth of 7 meters, and the maximum depth of the tunnel can be 70 meters.

In the framework of the Government’s project "Goal – 2023" Turkey plans to increase the number of tunnels from 295 to 470.

Currently, the construction of Yeni Zigana Dagi, Kop Dagi, Sabuncubeli and Dolmabahce-Fulya tunnels continues.
