Uzbekistan is planning to launch assembly of trucks with 1-50-ton payload, intercity and tourist buses, as well as specialized vehicles of the South Korean Hyundai in Namangan region, Uzbekistan National News Agency (UzA) reported on May 25.

The presentation of the project was held within the framework of the meeting of Evergreen Motors Group President Kim Chang Keon with Head of the administration of Namangan region Khairullo Bozorov.

At the first stage, 8-20 units per day, or 1000 vehicles per year, will be produced. Within the next three years, the capacity will be increased to 3000 vehicles per year (2000 trucks and 1000 buses).

Spare parts will initially be imported from South Korea, after which their production will be partially localized.

With the launch of the new enterprise, about 100 jobs will be created, with the number growing to 6000 in the future.

Members of the South Korean delegation visited the sites recommended for the construction of the plant.

The agreement on the mass production of Hyundai cars in Uzbekistan was reached during the visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Seoul in November 2017.
