In January-April 2018, Azerbaijan increased the import of goods from Georgia by 2.6 times as compared to the same period of 2017, up to $120.36 million, according to a report of the Georgian National Statistical Service.
Azerbaijan's share in Georgian exports was 12.5 percent (5.8 percent in January-April 2017). Azerbaijan took the second place among the countries importing Georgian products in the first four months of 2018.
Azerbaijan mainly imported cars, tobacco products, medicines, cattle and other products.
Georgia exports bulk of its goods to Russia - $129.27 million, with a specific weight of 13.4 percent. Turkey is ranked second with $103.82 million and a specific weight of 10.3 percent.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan exported goods to Georgia worth $242.94 million, which is 7 percent more than in January-April 2017. Azerbaijan occupies the third place among the main exporters to Georgia with a share of 8.6 percent (9.8 percent in the same period last year).
Georgia mainly imports from Azerbaijan gas, electricity, oil, cement and other goods.
The leader in exports to Georgia is Turkey - $443.8 million (15.7 percent), while Russia occupies the second position - $292.56 million (10.4 percent).
According to the report, Georgia's trade with Azerbaijan amounted to $363.3 million in the first four months of 2018. The share of trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Georgia makes 9.6 percent in the total volume of foreign trade operations of this country. Thus, Azerbaijan took the third place in the list of the main trade partners of Georgia.
