Ashgabat, Tokyo outline opportunities to increase Japanese investments

Turkmen State Migration Service hosted a meeting with representatives of the Japanese embassy, the Service said in a message on June 2.

The sides exchanged views on prospects for a joint partnership in the field of migration. Particularly, the sides pointed to the fact that with the expansion of economic cooperation, the dynamics of Turkmen-Japanese migration relations is also growing, which demonstrates the possibility of increasing investment making by leading Japanese companies.

"In this regard, the sides discussed issues of attracting advanced Japanese experience and technologies to the promising Turkmen market," according to the report.

Japanese companies are engaged in various projects of diversification of the Turkmen economy. In 2014, a complex of plants for production of ammonia and urea was built in the Mary city with their participation.

During the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Turkmenistan in October 2015, memorandums were signed for developing natural resources and transport infrastructure of Turkmenistan. Meanwhile, agreements worth $18 billion were concluded between the two countries on a number of projects.
