Uzbekistan has published a guide for entrepreneurs willing to invest in Republic of Karakalpakstan (part of Uzbekistan), Uzbek State Committee for Investments said.
The “Invest in the Republic of Karakalpakstan” handbook was prepared by the United Nations Development Program in Uzbekistan jointly with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the State Committee for Investments and the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. The guide is currently available in English and Russian.
The handbook is a unique guide on investment opportunities of Karakalpakstan with up-to-date data on the region.
The Republic of Karakalpakstan is a territory of the ecological crisis of the Aral Sea. At the same time, the region has significant potential for implementing promising investment projects.
The State Committee for Investments noted that large reserves of mineral and hydrocarbon raw materials, favorable opportunities for new projects in the spheres of mining, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, food and building materials, the closest access to the markets of Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan is only a part of the advantages of the region. The ‘open door’ policy for investors means significant customs, tax and banking benefits.
The publication of this handbook is an opportunity to draw attention of the private sector to the benefits of investing in Karakalpakstan for business development, job creation and, ultimately, improving the living standards of the local population.
