Money transfers to Azerbaijan increase

In January-March 2018, money transfers of individuals from foreign countries to Azerbaijan amounted to $241.7 million, which is 67.4 percent higher than in the same period last year, says the balance of payments for 1Q2018, posted on the website of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

For comparison: in 1Q2017, the transfers of individuals from foreign countries to Azerbaijan amounted to $144.42 million.

According to the balance of payments, the volume of transfers of individuals to Azerbaijan in 1Q2018 amounted to 88.5 percent of total revenues from secondary income.

During the reporting period, the total value of operations carried out by Azerbaijan with foreign countries on secondary income amounted to $379.1 million, which is 23.9 percent more than at the end of March 2017. Of these, $ 273 million fall on the country's revenues.

The cost of humanitarian goods imported to Azerbaijan for the period accounted for 10.5 percent of the country's revenues ($28.67 million), and other revenues – for one percent (2.73 million manats) of the country's revenues.

Azerbaijan has a positive balance on operations with secondary incomes, which amounts to $166.9 million, and which is 42.1 percent more than in the same period last year.
