Turkey sees rise in sale of real estate

In May 2018, the volume of real estate sales in Turkey increased by 2.7 percent compared to the same period in 2017 to 119,665 units of real estate, the Institute of Statistics of Turkey (TUİK) said in a message.

During this period, 20,611 units of real estate were sold in Istanbul, 11,919 units of real estate - in Ankara, and 7,028 units of real estate - in Izmir.

"The remaining 80,107 units of real estate fall to the share of other Turkish cities," TUİK repotted.

During the reported period, in Turkey, 2,415 units of real estate were sold to foreigners, which is 36.1 percent more compared to the same month in 2017.

"In May 2018, foreigners purchased 854 units of real estate in Istanbul, and 595 units in Antalya, while the remaining 966 units acquired by foreigners fall to the share of other Turkish cities," the report reads.

In May 2018, Iraqi citizens purchased 407 units of real estate in Turkey, Iranian citizens – 217 units, Saudi Arabia's citizens - 206 units and citizens of Russia - 165 units.

"The remaining 1,420 units of real estate fall to the share of citizens of other countries," according to the report.
