IFC to assist development of private business in Uzbekistan

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) will provide consulting services in development of private business in Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan announced citing Manager of the IFC for Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) Consulting Services in Europe and Central Asia Georgy Petrov.

Petrov made the announcement during his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Finance Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov, which took place in the Ministry of Finance.

IFC will provide consulting assistance in attracting private investments and experts to the country's health sector using the PPP model.

It was earlier reported that IFC will assist development of PPP to attract private investors to Design-Build-Finance-Operate (DBFO) solar power plants in Uzbekistan. IFC will also assist the country in mobilizing up to $1-billion investments to implement the projects.

The International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group, is the largest global development institution focused on the private sector in emerging and transition economies. It has been operating in Uzbekistan since 1993.
