Japan offers Turkmenistan consultations on agribusiness development

The Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) organized a training seminar in the field of agribusiness for Turkmen specialists in the city of Obihiro (Hokkaido governorate), the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET) said in a message.

The head of the Turkmenistan’s "Yunus” daikhan (peasant) association and a specialist in this field from UIET are among the participants.

The issues of development of agribusiness and agrotourism were the leitmotif of the event.

This referred to innovations in implementation of agricultural work, the mechanism of functioning of Japanese cooperatives.

"The practical sessions were conducted in farms, in the fields, in the livestock complex, in production shops, as well as in the places of sales of agricultural products," the message says.

In turn, the representatives of UIET organized a presentation of export opportunities of Turkmen agricultural producers. Turkmenistan grows cotton, wheat, rice, sugar beet and melons.
