Uzbekistan excluded 12 enterprises from the State Register of Natural Monopoly Entities, while at the same time six new enterprises were included in the State Register because of the merger of two enterprises, the State Committee on Competition of Uzbekistan stated on July 18.

In order to reduce the state presence in the economy and reduce the role of the state in regulating the country's socioeconomic development in Uzbekistan, the State Committee on Competition regularly conducts planned and systematic analytical work to reduce the number of economic entities that produce goods (works, services) as a natural monopoly.

Such work is carried out in accordance with clause 3.4 of “Strategy of actions on the five priority development directions of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021”, approved by the decree of the president of Uzbekistan on Feb. 7, 2017.

As of July 1, 2018, the number of natural monopolies in the State Register of Natural Monopoly Entities amounted to 141 enterprises in 10 types of economic activity.

The State Committee on Competition of Uzbekistan also considered 91 applications from individuals and legal entities, as a result of which it carried out recalculation on unreasonable assessments for a total of 268.3 million soums.
