The Azerbaijani company based in Astara region, has supplied 450 kilograms of honey to Great Britain, the Chairman of Management Board of the Azerbaijan Beekeepers Association Badraddin Hasratov told Trend July 24.

He noted that the approximate cost of the order was about $10,000.

The companies from the UAE also show interest in the Azerbaijani honey, Hasratov said.

"A specific order for 50 kilograms of honey has already been received from the company from Dubai. Negotiations are underway with other importers from the UAE, as well as Chinese companies and companies from Saudi Arabia. We also intend to increase exports to Japan," the head of the association said.

He noted that, according to forecasts, Azerbaijani companies will export about 10 tons of honey this year. At the same time, it is necessary to increase domestic production and reduce the prime cost of the manufactured products in order to increase the export potential, Hasratov said.

The available capacities allow for increasing twice - up to 10,000 tons the volume of production of honey in the country for a few years, the head of the association said.

Azerbaijan exported honey, dairy products, eggs and other types of food products of animal origin in the amount of $4.71 million, imported goods in the amount of $66.45 million in January-June 2018. The exports grew by 23.6 percent, imports - by 11.54 percent compared to the same period in 2017.
