Uzbek banking sectors grows immensely

By July 1, 2018, the assets of commercial banks in Uzbekistan amounted to 185.09 trillion soums, which is 79.1 percent higher compared to the same period in 2017, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan stated.

The total capital of the banking sector increased by 124.4 percent and amounted to 23.52 trillion soums.

The liabilities of banks exceeded 161.57 trillion soums as of July 1, 2018, which is 74 percent more compared to the same period in 2017.

Credit investments of banks increased by 92.5 percent to 134.61 trillion soums. The volume of attracted deposits as of July 1, 2018 amounted to 61.01 trillion soums, which is 49.6 percent higher compared to the same period in 2017.

The National Bank of Uzbekistan (NBU) is the leader in terms of assets with an indicator of 51.54 trillion soums (the share in the total volume of assets was 27.8 percent). The top three banks in terms of assets included Asaka Bank (25.97 trillion soums, 14-percent share) and Uzpromstroybank (25.97 trillion soums, 14-percent share).

The NBU (5.47 trillion soums), Asaka Bank (3.11 trillion soums) and Uzpromstroybank (2.28 trillion soums) are the leaders in terms of capital.
