Prices for agricultural products down in Kazakhstan

Prices for a number of vegetables dropped significantly in Kazakhstan by the end of July, EnergyPR.Kz said.

The price of fresh cucumbers fell by 28 percent at once, tomatoes by 26.5 percent, cabbage by 22 percent, potatoes by 14.4 percent, garlic by 10.7 percent.

In addition to regular seasonal changes in prices for vegetables and fruits, there was no impact on the food market in July.

Among vegetables, the price of beets have noticeably risen (+11.6 percent in a month) and carrots (+ 16 percent in a month). This is due to the appearance of new crop of these vegetables in the market.

Among the fruits, the price of bananas (- 5.5 percent in a month) and oranges (-3.7 percent in a month) fell in July.

Among products of animal origin, there has been a decline in prices for poultry products.

Eggs for a month cheapened by two percent, while the prices for ham and chicken dropped by 0.3 and 0.1 percent, respectively.

Among dairy products cheese price has risen (+1.2 percent), the price of other products in this group haven't changed noticeably in June.

Almost the same is true for the meat and fish products. A price change of more than one percent was recorded only for frozen decapitated fish by 1.2 percent in June.

In the segment of flour products and cereals, sharp monthly fluctuations in prices are not observed either.

Only rice rose appreciably by 2.1 percent during the month.

For the first time since October 2016 buckwheat grains' price have risen a little, only 0.5 percent a month. Previously, monthly stable decline has been observed in the price of this cereal.
