Azerbaijan increases share of private sector in exports

Azerbaijan exported goods totalling $10.75 billion in January-July 2018, which is 74.8 percent more than in the same period of 2017, the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee said.

The share of the public sector in exports amounted to $7.85 billion, the private sector – $2.85 billion, individuals – $46.59 million. The share of the private sector in exports increased from 17.6 percent to 26.5 percent for the year.

Azerbaijan exported oil and oil products, gas, fruits, vegetables and plastics most of all during the reporting period.

The volume of imports amounted to $5.78 billion during the reporting period, which is 32.3 percent more than in January-July 2017. The share of the public sector in import operations amounted to $994.49 million, private sector – to $4.45 billion, individuals – to $330.14 million.

Among the most popular products imported by Azerbaijan during the reporting period were various machines and mechanisms, ferrous metals and products made of them, vehicles and spare parts for them, plastic and products made of plastic and wood and products made of wood.

In general, Azerbaijan's foreign trade operations increased by almost 57 percent amounting to $16.52 billion in January-July 2018 compared to the same period of 2017. The positive balance in the reporting period amounted to more than $4 billion, which is more than twice as much as in January-July 2017 ($1.78 billion).

Azerbaijan exported 2,526 types of goods and imported 7,012 types of goods during the reporting period.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade partners are 170 countries. Some 13,934 legal entities and individuals (5,563 legal entities and 8,371 individuals) participated in foreign trade activities as a whole during the reporting period.
