China expects growth in trade with Azerbaijan in 2018, Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Wei Jinghua said in an interview with Trend.

As for the first half of 2018, China ranks seventh among Azerbaijan’s trade partners, and third in terms of imports, he said.

China accounts for 3.81 percent of the total trade turnover of Azerbaijan, he added.

In the structure of the trade turnover, the bulk accounted for various machines and mechanisms, electrical equipment and spare parts, fossil fuels, plastics and plastic products, clothing, rubber, etc., he noted.

China provides Azerbaijan with a great market for exports, and this gives a new impetus to the increase in trade between the two countries, the diplomat said.

He expressed confidence that this figure will increase in 2018 through the two countries’ joint efforts.

The ambassador reminded that in November this year Shanghai will host the first China International Import Expo, which is projected to attract about 150,000 buyers from more than 100 countries.

The Azerbaijani delegation will also take part in this grandiose event, he said.

China is confident that with the help of this exhibition Azerbaijan’s products will become popular among Chinese consumers, he noted, adding that China is ready to provide the necessary assistance to bring the trade and economic relations between the two countries to a higher level.

Azerbaijan’s trade with China amounted to $616.402 million for the six months of 2018, according to Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee.
