Uzbek holding company accounts for over 40% of country’s agricultural output

In the first half of 2018, plants of Uzbekistan’s O'zbekoziqovqatxolding national agricultural holding company manufactured industrial products worth 2.16 trillion soums, which is 6.3 percent more than in the same period of 2017, the State Committee for Investments of Uzbekistan said in a message.

Production of consumer goods stood at 2.18 trillion soums, which is 7.2 percent more than in the same period of 2017.

The value of agricultural exports amounted to $99.47 million. At the same time, the export of processed products amounted to $17.5 million, including processed fruit and vegetable products worth $8.24 million. The export of fresh fruit and vegetable products amounted to 81,970.7 tons.

In accordance with the decree of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev dated February 3, 2018, the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan allocated a credit line of $48.2 million for 2018 to finance investment projects in the food industry.

During the first half of the year, investments worth $37.4 million were spent.

Presently, the holding company includes 249 small and private businesses that manufacture products worth 901.5 billion soums or 42.1 percent of the total agricultural production. A significant part of them is exporting fruit and vegetable preserves, juices, dried fruits and confectionery products.
