There are plans to send an export delegation of Azerbaijani businessmen to China until the end of this year, Azerbaijan’s trade representative in China Teymur Nadiroglu told Trend.

He said that the export delegation will be organized as part of the upcoming China-Eurasian Expo to open August 30 in Urumqi city. Twenty-two companies from Azerbaijan will take part in the exposition and various kinds of domestic products will be presented there, he noted.

“Holding such important events [expositions] is necessary for the promotion of Azerbaijani goods in China,” he added.

“In addition, export delegations are also of great importance, because during these events Azerbaijani producers and exporters have the opportunity to meet face to face with their business partners, exchange experience and receive more detailed information about the companies. That is, it is planned in advance which companies will come from Azerbaijan to China, and based on this in China, we begin negotiations with our partners in order to discuss agenda of upcoming proposals and plans during the meetings.”

Azerbaijan’s trade with China amounted to almost $1.3 billion last year, which is 33 percent more than in 2016, according to Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee. Exports for the year increased by 63.75 percent to $443.8 million and imports grew 21.4 percent to $854.5 million.

The main export items from Azerbaijan to China last year included chemical products, fuel, plastics and plastic products. Electric equipment, equipment and spare parts for them, vehicles and spare parts, clothing and its parts, ceramic products and household items were imported from China to Azerbaijan over the past year.
