Turkey sees rise in sale of real estate

In July 2018, 123,878 units of real estate were sold in Turkey, which is by 6.9 percent more than in July 2017, the Institute of Statistics of Turkey (TUİK) said in a message.

During the reporting period, 19,503 units of real estate were sold in Istanbul, 12,119 units of real estate - in Ankara, and 6,322 units of real estate - in Izmir.

"The remaining 85,934 units of real estate fall to the share of other Turkish cities," TUİK reported.

In July 2018, 2,858 units of real estate were sold to foreigners in Turkey, which is 65.6 percent more compared to the same month of 2017.

"In July 2018, foreigners purchased 956 units of real estate in Istanbul, and 641 units in Antalya, while the remaining 1,261 units acquired by foreigners fall to the share of other Turkish cities," the report reads.

In July 2018, Iraqi citizens purchased 584 units of real estate in Turkey, Iranian citizens – 321 units and citizens of Russia – 173 units.

"The remaining 1,780 units of real estate fall to the share of citizens of other countries," according to the report.
