By Azad Hasanli – Trend:

The ASE Express, OCS & UTI Worldwide Logistics company, a major carrier in Azerbaijan, is considering the prospect of launching two railcars on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway, General Director of the company Rashad Abbasov told Trend.

He said the company is already carrying out cargo transportations on this route.

"BTK is a very promising route and we expect that the demand for it will continue to grow. In this regard, we are considering the prospect of launching two of our railcars on this railway, which will run on a regular basis, twice a week," Abbasov said.

He stressed that the BTK can significantly reduce the time of delivery of goods from China to Europe through the territory of Azerbaijan, which makes this route particularly attractive.

"Azerbaijan has made every effort to launch this route and now it works perfectly. It greatly shortens the way from China to Europe. While earlier, it took about one month to deliver the goods on this route, now it takes about three weeks. In other words, companies that used to ship their cargo 12 times a month will be able to do it 15 times a month, which will increase their sales. Today we can see how high is he demand from European companies for the supply of goods by BTK", the head of the company said.

Abbasov believes that Azerbaijan has a huge transit potential.

"The government is taking timely measures to simplify transit through the country. For example, the North-South corridor is already attracting great interest. The flow of trucks along this route is very high, and after the completion of the construction of railways [this refers to the missing section of Rasht-Astara railway]. The volume of cargo transportation will grow at least twice. This investment will pay off very quickly."

ASE Express, OCS & UTI Worldwide Logistics company has been operating in Azerbaijan since 1994 and is the official representative of the Turkish ASE Express, Japanese OCS Overseas Courier Service and American UTI Worldwide Inc. Company. The company's network includes more than 300 offices around the world.
