Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 5

By Azad Hasanli – Trend:

Azerbaijan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will soon discuss the current situation and prospects for economic development and the reforms being carried out in the country, the IMF head office told Trend Sept. 5.

For this purpose, an IMF delegation will visit Baku September 19-26.

“During the visit, negotiations with representatives of the Government are expected to be held,” the IMF said without specifying the details.

An IMF delegation led by Mohammed El-Qorchi visited Azerbaijan in November-December 2017. During two weeks, the IMF experts held consultations on Article IV of the IMF Charter in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Then the IMF mission stressed positive changes in the country's economy, including those in social security and development of the labor market.

IMF has recently improved the forecast of the country's economic development. IMF expects the Azerbaijani economy to grow 2 percent in 2018 and 3.9 percent in 2019.
