Trend:

Managing director of Hasheminejad (Khangiran) Gas Refinery said the Iranian oil ministry is in talks with domestic and foreign investors to build sulfur processing facilities at Khangiran gas field in Khorasan Razavi Province near Iran – Turkmenistan border.

Domestic and foreign investors have visited the gas field, and look to invest in construction of facilities required for processing sulfur, Seyed Majid Monabati said on September 14, Shana news agency reported.

The official added that the country plans to process sulfur in a bid to sell it at higher prices, noting that raw sulfur will be no longer exported.

The Khangiran gas field is an Iranian natural gas field that was discovered in 1967. It began production in 1980 and produces natural gas and condensates. The total proven reserves of the Khangiran gas field are around 17 trillion cubic feet (480×109m3) and production is slated to be around 600 million cubic feet/day (17×106m3).

Sulfur-processing facilities are built with help of modular and conventional construction methods, depending on the project requirements.
