Uzbek, Belarusian commodity exchanges to organize joint trade

Uzbek Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange (UZEX) and Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) are planning to organize joint exchange trade of agricultural products, metal products, sawn timber, textile products and other goods, the UZEX announced on Sep. 17.

According to the information, joint trade is stipulated by the agreement on strategic cooperation signed between the two exchanges.

The document provides for exchange of experience in use of tools and technologies of exchange trade in order to provide enterprises with material and technical resources and sales of products of manufacturers of Uzbekistan and Belarus, expand geography, commodity nomenclature and number of participants in exchange trade, as well as increase volume of transactions made on electronic trading platforms of the parties.

The exchanges are planning to study possibilities of mutual accreditation of exchange trade participants, establish effective information interaction between the marketing services of the two exchanges.

The agreement will facilitate implementation of comprehensive measures to liberalize exchange trade, increase domestic export potential, facilitate access of Uzbek producers to the Belarusian market and expand opportunities for Belarusian business in Uzbekistan, as well as create favorable conditions for a healthy competitive environment and improve business climate of the country.

On May 31, 2018, an agreement on cooperation between the UZEX and the BUCE was signed in Tashkent, in accordance with which a joint working group on interaction between the exchanges was established.
