Turkmenistan, Saudi Arabia discuss prospects of investment partnership

The Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET) held a meeting with the Director of the Saudi Arabia’s Joint-Stock Company "Global Projects Development Holding Co."(TATWEER) Bader Al-Busais, the UIET said in a statement.

Among the main topics are the prospects of investment partnership. The representatives of Saudi Arabia expressed interest in information about the major projects implemented by the members of the UIET in the field of transport, construction, development of natural resources of the country and aimed at innovative development of the economy, further integration of Turkmenistan into the international system of production, technological and trade relations, said the message.

The participants of the meeting confirmed their intention to expand cooperation in a wide range of areas, to use the opportunities of the business circles of the two countries in order to implement joint investment business projects.

Last year, it was reported that Turkmenistan is seen as a potential investment field for Saudi oil companies, such as Saudi Aramco. This was stated by the Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia Khalid A. Al-Falih.

In particular, the Aramco company has considered the possibility of investments in oil and gas production, in particular in the countries with access to the Caspian sea, including Turkmenistan, which owns the largest reserves of mineral resources.

Falih had said that the Saudi Kingdom supports the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline. The minister noted that the Saudi Arabia’s companies are ready to supply the materials necessary for the project. The construction of the Turkmen section of TAPI pipeline began in December 2015.
