The Export-Import Bank of the Republic of Korea (Korea Eximbank) will hire an international company that will prepare a strategy for development of passenger transport in Tashkent, Uzbek media reported citing Chairman of the Board of Toshshahartranshizmat JSC (Tashkent transport service) Mohir Valiyev.

It is noteworthy, he said, that the Korean side will finance the project on the basis of a dedicated grant.

In 2004, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance of Korea launched the Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP), based on knowledge of development and economic cooperation, designed to share Korea's development experience with partner countries. KSP offers comprehensive policy advice tailored to the needs of partner countries, including in-depth analysis, policy advice and training opportunities.

Under the supervision of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance of the Republic of Korea, Korea Eximbank, as a government agency implementing the KSP, is organizing a project to develop an integrated public transport system in Tashkent.

During the meeting in Tashkent city administration with the delegation from South Korea, led by Director of the KSP Group Kyung-seo Park, organization of this project was discussed.

Valiyev, who attended the meeting, noted that on Aug. 28, 2018, the president of Uzbekistan held a meeting with representatives of the country's transport sector, where he instructed to prepare a concept for development of public transport in Tashkent by hiring an engineering company, and therefore the Uzbek side has decided to hire a foreign consultant.
