Share of corporate deposits down in Kazakh banks

Corporate deposits in Kazakh banks are declining, Kazakh media reported on Sept. 20.

The volume of deposits of legal entities amounted to only 8.72 trillion tenge. This is more than in June, but less by 1.6 percent than a year earlier.

Corporate deposits are declining for the third consecutive year. Moreover, their role in funding is significantly decreasing.

Among the seven largest financial institutions of Kazakhstan, annual increase in the business deposits was observed only in five banks.

The portfolio of Sberbank's corporate deposits declined by almost 2 percent for the year, while Tsesnabank saw a reduction of 15 percent.
