The imported butter to Iran will be exempt from payment of exchange rate differences in the country.

The director general of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration’s Imports and Free and Special Economic Zones Affairs Center Ali Maqouli announced in a directive to the executive board that imported butter is exempted from paying the exchange rate, Mehr news agency reported.

Customs authorities and subordinate units have been instructed to take necessary measures to fulfill the decision.

Domestic production meets only 16 percent of Iran’s demand for butter. Iran imports 45,000 tons of butter, worth $400 million per year.

The country’s raw milk output stands at over 9 million tons per year.

Following the implementation of the government’s supportive plan to purchase raw milk from producers, Iran’s powdered milk and cream exports has witnessed increase in recent three years.
