Azerbaijan reveals non-oil industry growth forecast for 2019

Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 27

By Azad Hasanli - Trend:

Azerbaijan’s non-oil industry is expected to grow at least 10 percent in 2019, Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev said.

He was speaking Sept. 27 at a round table meeting “Industry and Energy: Prospects for Bilateral Cooperation”, held as part of the 9th Russian-Azerbaijani interregional forum in Baku.

For eight months of 2018, Azerbaijan’s non-oil industry grew 11 percent, Mustafayev said.

The minister reminded that the non-oil sector is a priority for the development of the Azerbaijani economy and this idea is reflected in all programs and concepts of the government.

“We are trying to create conditions for the growth of non-oil industry to outpace the growth rates of the economy as a whole,” the minister added.

The 9th Azerbaijan-Russia interregional forum started its work in Baku Sept. 27.

The event is aimed at developing trade, economic and humanitarian ties between the regions of the two countries and will become a platform for joint work of Russia and Azerbaijan, including the relevant ministers, extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors of both countries, the business community and experts.
