Turkey says ready to enhance co-op with Iran in medicinal herbs

Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forest Bekir Pakdemirli voiced readiness to enhance cooperation with Iran in the sector medicinal herbs.

“We are ready to boost cooperation with Iran in the field of medicinal plants,” Pakdemirli said in a recent meeting with Iranian Minister of Agriculture Mahmoud Hojjati in Tehran, IRIB news agency reported on October 4.

“Iran has good experience in production and use of medicinal herbs and we are ready to use its experience,” he added.

The Turkish minister further hailed the current level of Tehran-Ankara trade ties and said this should continue.

“Iran-Turkey’s trade turnover in the field of agriculture stands at $220 million,” he said, noting that the two countries have potential to expand their ties.

During the meeting, they signed three documents on agriculture, veterinary and beekeeping.
