The French industrial engineering group Fives plans to start production of car glass in Uzbekistan jointly with the Uzbek construction material producer Uzstroymaterialy, Uzbek media reported on Oct. 8.
“Our group specializes in projects in heavy machinery and engineering, equipment manufacturing. In the past two years, we have established close cooperation with partners from Uzbekistan. For example, we are planning to organize export production of high-quality car glass in Uzbekistan,” Head of The International Development at Fives Jean-Marie Caroff said.
Fives Group is an industrial engineering group founded more than 200 years ago that designs and supplies tech equipment, machines and production lines for the largest international companies in the metallurgical, aerospace, aluminum, automotive, logistics, glass, cement, energy and recycling industries.
Fives has subsidiaries and representative offices in more than 30 countries and a total of 8,300 employees. In 2015, the group's sales amounted to about 2 billion euros.
The activity of the group is marked by outstanding achievements: the development of the first steam locomotives, the construction of the Alexander III Bridge in Paris, the manufacture of metal structures for the Museum d’Orsay, the construction of elevators for the Eiffel Tower.
In January-August 2018, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and France amounted to $195.1 million, of which $117.3 million accounted for exports from Uzbekistan, and $77.8 million for imports from France.
