Belarusian company to produce over 1M footwear in Uzbekistan

Belarusian leather and footwear company Marco plans to implement in Uzbekistan two investment projects on shoe production with a total annual capacity of over a million pairs, BelTA reported citing Director General of the holding Nikolai Martynov.

The Belarusian company will create a facility specialized in protective footwear for special purposes, and, in the long term, fashion footwear.

Its production capacity is estimated to reach 600,000 pairs per year. About 500 jobs will be created. The production is planned to start in the 1H2019. The new company should reach its design capacity by the end of 2019 after installation of the second line, which will employ German solutions.

In addition, preliminary agreements were reached on participation of Marco in modernization of one of the local plants. Up to 500 people are expected to be employed.

Planned production capacity will exceed 500,000 pairs of shoes per year.
