Since the commissioning of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, mainly construction materials, electrical equipment, detergents, and grain have been transported along this route, the head of the press service of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC Sevinj Gadirova told Trend Oct. 18.
In general, after the commissioning of the railway, about 3,000 wagons and containers were transported along this route, the head of the press service said.
The cargoes were transported from China, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan to Turkey and in the opposite direction.
Gadirova noted that final work is currently being carried out throughout the railway route.
Earlier it was reported that about 2,000 people were involved in this work, 500 of which are Azerbaijani specialists.
The opening of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway was held on October 30, 2017 at the Baku International Sea Trade Port.
The BTK railway was built on the basis of the Azerbaijani-Georgian-Turkish interstate agreement. At the initial stage, the freight traffic volume will be at the level of 6.5 million tons of cargoes, as well as up to one million passengers will be transported along this route.
