Kazakhstan's Kostanay region to significantly increase meat production

The volume of meat production in Kostanay region of Kazakhstan is planned to be increased to 184,000 tons by 2027, said the head of the regional agriculture department Zhansultan Taukenov, according to Kazinform.

He noted that thanks to the state support of the industry, there is a stable dynamics of growth of livestock and livestock production in the region. Today the Kostanay region fully meets the needs of the population with meat.

"More than 4,500 tons of meat were exported to other regions of Kazakhstan and 474 tons were exported to Russia. Twenty-six meat processing enterprises are provided with local raw meat," Taukenov said.

He further noted that today the number of cattle in the Kostanay region is 470,000 heads, including 212,000 cows. In addition, there are 118,000 horses, 499,000 sheep and goats, and 209,000 pigs.

As many as 1294 agricultural organizations are engaged in animal husbandry in the Kostanay region. They include 16 large dairy farms, 40 meat farms and seven meat and dairy farms. There are also four poultry farms and four pig farms in the region.
