Iran imports over 3,000 tons of medicine in 6 months

Iran imported over 3,000 tons of medicine and medical goods in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year (started on March 21), a report said.

Some 3,720 tons of various types of medicines worth $483 million were shipped into Iran in the first six months of this year, Mehr news agency reported on October 20.

The medicines were among the essential goods imported into Iran during the first half of the year.

Recently, over 9.13 million tons of essential goods worth $4.67 billion were imported into Iran, accounting for 56 percent and 21 percent of the total imports in terms of weight and value respectively.

Corn, rice, oilseeds, pharmaceuticals, vegetable oils, red meat, soy meal, barley, fertilizers, sugar and wheat were the main essential goods.
