French engineering company Alstom plans to start implementation of two projects in Kazakhstan’s Almaty, Member of the company’s Board Philippe Delair said at the Kazakhstan-Europe Business Forum in Brussels, according to Kazinform.

"There are two projects that we can work on together. The first is to help modernize the railway infrastructure. There is a high need for good railway infrastructure for all industries," he noted.

Alstom is ready to invest in digital data transmission on the railway, which will increase the safety and reliability of the industry. The project will start with an update of the data transmission system at the five main railway stations in Kazakhstan.

"The second project relates to light rail transport in Almaty," Delair said.

He added that the consortium consisting of several foreign partners is ready to cooperate in the framework of public-private partnership, subject to the coordination of certain parameters.

Founded in 1928, Alstom develops and markets systems, equipment and services for the transport sector. The company offers a complete range of solutions (from high-speed trains to metros, tramways and e-buses), passenger solutions, customized services (maintenance, modernization), infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility solutions.
