Trend:

Trade turnover between Iran and Azerbaijan increased by 75 percent in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21), Secretary General of Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Chamber of Commerce Behrouz Poursoleiman said.

The volume of trade exchanges between Tehran and Baku, despite sanctions and international restrictions, witnessed a strong growth in the first six months of this year, Poursoleiman told ILNA on October 22.

Last year, $55 million worth of goods were trade between the two countries, he said, adding the figure is expected to reach $80 million by the year-end.

The trade has marked a 75 percent rise during the period, Poursoleiman said.

Iran mainly exported potatoes, construction materials, plastic products and petrochemical products, he said.

“Iran imported grain and livestock feed from Azerbaijan through the Bilesavar border checkpoint,” the official said.
