The project involving the demolition of uninhabitable buildings and the subsequent improvement of the territory of Sovetskaya Street in Baku is one of the most ambitious undertakings, and therefore, its full implementation will take at least one more year, Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning Dovlatkhan Dovlatkhanov told Trend.

He said the project is one of the important elements of the master plan of Baku.

“Presently, the second stage of demolition of residential buildings on the Sovetskaya Street continues, although it can be said that most of these territories have already been freed from unsuitable residential buildings and structures,” he noted. “Large-scale work is being carried out on the Sovetskaya Street to create a park zone for public use and recreation. A recreational zone is being created there, and earthwork has already been completed in most of this territory, and the greening process has begun. This work will continue to the territory where the Taza Pir Mosque is located. I believe the improvement process of the Sovetskaya Street will continue throughout the next year.”

He noted that the demolition of houses is planned in Baku in the territory called Kubinka, but for now, it is difficult to name the specific dates for the start of the renovation process.

“Demolitions in Baku can be carried out by private construction companies that are interested in developing their businesses,” he added. “This can be absolutely any construction organization, or an individual.”
