An Iranian energy expert believes the US exemption for 8 countries from the Iran sanctions, including Japan, China, India, Italy, Greece, South Korea, Taiwan and Turkey, is humiliating.

"Making decisions on Iran's trade conditions, is in fact a humiliation for Iran. The country should react," Javad Noforsati told Trend.

"I don't believe such exemptions are a victory for the country. It is a humiliation when South Korean ambassador declares that Iran's oil money should remain in a specific bank account and Iran is forced to receive goods instead of money; this is nothing but humiliation for our country," he said referring to a six-month waiver for the eight countries to buy Iran's oil.

"Our politicians should not accept these shameful trade rules. Meanwhile, South Korea dropped oil imports from Iran three months before the US sanctions began, and now it seems the country has received a license to import 200,000 bpd and it is interesting that they are going to give goods instead of money," Noforsati added.

Earlier, South Korean Ambassador to Tehran Ryu Jeong-hyun said that the decision to stop buying any crude oil from Iran was not Seoul’s choice, and it was "a part of strategy to win waivers from the United States.”

The energy expert noted that Iran should be a determiner in transactions.

"Iran must declare that it will receive money for its oil and also determine the foreign currency for the payment and receive the appropriate guarantees," said Noforsati.
