By the end of 2018, the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan will complete a regional project under the motto of "Supporting women-businessmen in developing and setting up a family economy," the Chairwoman of Board of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan Sakina Babayeva told Trend.

The chairwoman of the association said the project is currently being implemented in Dashkesan, Tovuz and Gedebey regions.

“The project involves a special expert group that is based in the regions and villages in order to conduct extensive and comprehensive educational work with women who want to do business at their place of residence. The members of our association are acting as experts, they organize trainings, where they teach women the ways of correct compilation of a business plan and phased conduct of business in the areas that they are interested in. For example, the livestock breeding, handicrafts, trade and other sectors could be the areas of interest to women," Babayeva said.

The chairwoman of the association noted that today similar projects aimed at supporting and developing business in villages and regions are being successfully implemented in Russia and in Europe.

"We plan to expand our association in the future, so we will recruit into our ranks the women who open their own business in the regions. In my opinion, for each of them, this is a real platform for improvement of business knowledge, and at the same time, new opportunities for development of entrepreneurial activities in Azerbaijan," the chairwoman of the association said.

The chairwoman of the association noted that the government pays great attention to the development and expansion of small and medium businesses, which also stimulates the promotion of female entrepreneurship in Baku city and in regions of the country.

"Today, more than 143,000 women in Azerbaijan are engaged in entrepreneurial activities. In Azerbaijan, 80 percent of the gross domestic product is provided by the private sector, while a small percentage falls to the share of female entrepreneurship, and our task is to increase just this indicator in the structure of small and medium business," Babayeva said.
